Abraham, Isaac and Caravaggio
Genesis 22:1-18 tells the story of Abraham and Isaac and the greatest of all tests a parent could be given. This little video beautifully illustrates the story and the great Renaissance artist Caravaggio's depiction of the story. One of my favorite memories of my days in the classroom as a Modern World History teacher was listening to the art history teacher once a week as she lectured with slides about the development of art in the modern world. Caravaggio and the technique of chiarascuro fascinated me for many reasons, not the least of which was that a human being could use a brush and paint to recreate light and meaning. Enjoy this video and its words about being tested and being blessed.
