Plagued
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the LORD: Let my people go, so that they may worship me'"
Exodus 7:25—8:19 (NRSV)
The story of the plagues is creepy and unpalatable, but so is an angry powerful force. Dead frogs, dead gnats, and the story goes on, and as they did for Job, the blights go on and on for a long time before they get better. Where is the redemption in it all? Where is the hope? Where is the peace? In today's Exodus reading, I find peace in the perpetual presence of God regardless of the circumstances. God is never far from God's people; God equips us for whatever plague comes. Unfortunately, often we either lose the tools or forget we have them. Let's pray for a complete tool box today!
