Care for Yourself
I have a dear friend who has beautiful hands. Her nails are well shaped, no polish, no gel, just cared for and lovely. I asked her once how often she gets a manicure, because I was sure that was why her nails were so pretty. She said never. She said all she does is file them once a week to keep them shaped and rub them nightly with good cream. That seems a small price to pay for such beauty.
I do not have beautiful hands; my hands are like little boy hands. I have never done a good job of caring for my nails, instead I either pick at them, bite them or clip them with clippers! But after seeing my friend's beautiful hands and hearing her simple procedure for keeping them that way, I thought I would add some self care to my daily routine. And she is right! Just a little bit of attention makes all the difference. But the most wonderful part of my new habit of self care is that every time I file my nails I think of my friend. Every single time, and that makes me so happy.
What does this story have to do with anything? You tell me. What does it mean to you?
Maybe something about the power of friendship and the importance of self care.
I love you, Genie!
